HWY 1 Nicomen – Highway Closure

A Traffic closure will be occurring at the Highway 1 Nicomen project site on March 20th.

This closure is required to move the drill rig from the south bank of the river to the north bank of the river.

  • There will be a 1.5-hour highway closure of both westbound and eastbound directions.
  • This 1.5-hour daily closure will occur between 5am and 6:30am on Wednesday, March 20th.
  • Access to Nicomen River road will be restricted to eastbound exiting traffic only.

HWY 1 – Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road

Upcoming traffic impacts scheduled for Hwy 1 through Tappen, BC as part of the Hwy 1, 4-laning from Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road construction project.

The following interruptions will be in place:

  • Kault Hill eastbound rest area/brake check is closed to public/trucks.
  • Localized reduced speed zones between Kault Hill and Ford Rd to 60km/hr during active construction and 80km/hr during inactive times.
  • Daily intermittent minor stoppages for construction equipment and trucks from Kault Hill to Ford Road.
  • Up to 20min stoppages through the site from 6:00am until 7:00pm – Mondays to Saturdays.
  • Up to 30min stoppages through the site from 7:00pm until 6:00am – Mondays to Saturdays.
  • Tappen Valley Road Closed from Highway 1 to 399 Tappen Valley Road. In place until December 2025.
    • Detour available via Bolton Road.

 

Columbia Street – One Month Closure

Starting on Tuesday, April 2, Fraser Crossing Partners will implement a one-month full closure of Columbia Street and the Central Valley Greenway between McBride Boulevard and Elliot Street. This closure is required for crews to lift steel girders over the roadway between the bridge foundations on either side of Columbia Street

While this closure is in effect, drivers will be detoured to Royal Avenue. The Columbia Street loop-ramp will also be closed, but access to the Pattullo Bridge will be maintained at all times via McBride Boulevard (Bridge Connector) and the Royal Avenue on-ramp.

Columbia Street between 6th Street and Elliot Street will remain open for local traffic. Access to and from all businesses on Columbia Street and Front Street Mews will be maintained at all times.

Burnaby Intersection Closures

Road closure scheduled for Milling and Paving operations from Monday March 18th until Friday March 22nd at the intersection of Sperling & Halifax, Sperling & Kitchener, and Imperial & Gilley, in Burnaby. During this time, all vehicles, including trucks, will be required to follow the detour signs that have been placed.
