Introduction to Automotive Shop Safety

Introduction to Automotive Shop Safety

The Alberta Motor Transport Association, in partnership with the Safety in Schools Foundation of Canada, has developed this online course which is aimed at providing workers entering the automotive repair industry with a basic understanding of the common hazards found in automotive shops.

This course defines employer and employee responsibilities regarding safety within the automotive shop industry.

The course centers around a case study of a 17-year-old employee who was severely injured working in a retail automotive shop. The case study includes a filmed interview with the OH&S investigator who led the investigation. This course is recommended for any young person considering working in a commercial or retail automotive shop. The course can be taken at no cost, thanks to funding from the Alberta Creative Sentencing Program.
