By June 12, 2021, all federally regulated carriers who use paper logs must transition to a third party certified electronic logging device (ELD). ELD hardware and software must be tested and certified by a third-party certification body accredited by the Minister of Transport. FPInnovations is currently the only approved third-party certification body. Click here for the registry of accredited third-party certification bodies.
Transport Canada will also be adding devices to a list of ELDs once they are certified by an accredited body. There are currently no approved ELDs on the market. Click on the link here for the list, which will be updated as ELDs are certified.
