Knight Street Bridge Repairs - Beginning January 20, 2020


TransLink will begin rehabilitation of the Knight Street Bridge starting January 20, 2020, with overnight single lane closures in each direction, 10 pm to 5 am.

The project will continue through to spring 2020. All ramps to-and-from the bridge, including ramps to access and egress Mitchell Island, will remain open during typical nightly construction work. TransLink expects traffic impacts to be largely minimal, but drivers should expect some delays and plan accordingly. 

While most work can be completed with minimal impacts, some work may require full access to the bridge deck and could require up to ten nights of bridge closures between 10 pm and 5 am. Notice will be provided on TransLink’s Knight Street Bridge webpage in advance of any bridge closures so drivers can plan ahead. During bridge closures, access to Mitchell Island will be maintained at all times via detours. Drivers will need to follow signage to access Mitchell Island, via Vancouver or Richmond, and should allow additional travel time.  

Emergency vehicles, transit buses, cyclists, and pedestrians will be permitted to cross the bridge anytime throughout construction, including the ten nights of partial bridge closures.

Together with the contractor, TransLink is making every effort to minimize the impact of this construction activity. During the day, all lanes on the Knight Street Bridge will be available to all users.
