We are looking for an experienced dispatcher based out of our Penticton office.  The start date is as soon as possible.  The dispatcher is responsible for maintaining communication with customers and drivers in order to organize and keep track of all the daily operations.  This individual will be scheduling and dispatching drivers, coordinating work, quoting customers on specific jobs and monitoring performance to ensure safe, efficient operation.   

Skills and Qualifications

This position’s responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop a culture of safety, professionalism and service excellence in all areas of operations.
  • Plan and manage employee work schedules to service commitment requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment in order to meet requirements for daily operations including working with Fleet Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all systems, computer dispatch, satellite tracking, ELD monitoring, and other applicable systems.
  • Maintain policies and procedures to ensure Federal and Provincial compliance including NSC, Canada Labour Code and Hours of Work regulations.    
  • Very strong customer service skills and ability to liaise and effectively communicate with major customers, the balance of the dispatch team and drivers.
  • Quick decision maker, very organized analytical and logical thinker.
  • Preference given to candidates with strong computer experience and keyboarding skills, as well as experience with TMW dispatch software, satellite communication and PC Miler.
  • A team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in the trucking industry is an asset but not a must for candidates with the right skill set and attitude.
  • Knowledge of local and Pacific Northwest geography.
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Ability to be on call after hours on a rotational basis.
  • Compliance with the Company's Drug and Alcohol policy.
  • Have good physical and mental health and have satisfactory results from a nurse’s medical.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Be prepared to work on a 6-month probation period.
