Kentron Construction, part of the Terus Construction Ltd group, is a well-established and reputable construction operating business that has been part of the community for over 35 years. Kentron Construction is seeking Ready-Mix Truck Drivers for its operation in Kitimat, BC.
These are full-time, project-based positions for a few months with possibility of extensions. Training will be provided. Preference given to locals and those willing to relocate. Relocation support may be provided.
Must be able to operate Ready Mix Truck - training provided.
Complete driving assignments in a timely and safe manner.
The applicant must be able to lift and move product sometimes involving strenuous labour.
Ability to work extended hours & irregular days with irregular breaks.
Will be required to maintain necessary logs, driving records and DOT certifications.
Complete daily pre and post trip inspections of vehicle.
Complete all other tasks assigned by supervisor or manager.
Perform a variety of tasks as needed or required when not delivering concrete.
Must be willing to travel and work out town occasionally when required or necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
The preferred candidates will have the following qualifications:
A class 1 or 3 license with air endorsement in good standing.
Proven safety record while operating heavy equipment or trucks.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills while working with customers.
Ability to understand and follow Company policies and procedures.
Have a solid knowledge of local and provincial transportation regulations.
A degree of mechanical aptitude for minor preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections.
History of being a team player.
Ability to comply with all laws, company guidelines and policies.
When hired, the candidate will be expected to complete the Concrete BC’s Concrete Delivery Professional (CDP) Course.
This is a full-time, temporary, hourly position in an extremely high-paced environment that may require overtime shifts and weekend work. Hourly wage is $39.44/hour (Teamsters) with 1.5x salary after 8 hours, 2x salary after 11 hours, 1.5x salary on Saturdays and 2x salary on Sundays..
The preferred candidates will also have the initiative to be able to work without direct supervision.
This job can be physically demanding. As such the preferred candidate will be required to have:
Strong arm, leg and back fitness.
The ability to withstand the physical demands of being bounced and jolted while operating equipment.
The ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Good depth perception and hand-eye coordination is necessary.
The ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.
