The Heavy Equipment Group requires temporary Faculty for periods of up to 3 months at our campus on Annacis Island in Delta to deliver training in our day school foundation or apprenticeship programs. Contracts include instructional responsibilities such as: teaching provincial curriculum; short-term coverage for full-time Instructor release; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our heavy equipment team and with the Department Head. The program curriculum includes the instruction of disassembly, inspection, overhaul, servicing and reassembly of many types of commercial transport trucks and off-road heavy duty equipment. This ranges from class 8 semi tractors and transport trailers through to bulldozers, front end loaders, skid steers and excavators.

Please Note: We are hiring for multiple start dates and periods of time on an as needed basis.

Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Responsibilities:

Teaching provincial curriculum; short-term coverage for full-time Instructor release; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our heavy equipment team and with the Department Head. The program curriculum includes the instruction of disassembly, inspection, overhaul, servicing and reassembly of many types of commercial transport trucks and off-road heavy duty equipment. This ranges from class 8 semi tractors and transport trailers through to bulldozers, front end loaders, skid steers and excavators.

 

Skills and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

·BC Trades Qualification with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Heavy Duty and/or Commercial Transport.

·A minimum of five years’ recent journeyperson industry experience (more preferred).

·Documented experience in repair and maintenance of heavy duty or commercial transport equipment.

·Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

·Current computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint: ability to manage files located on a database.

·Previous supervisory or leadership experience would be an asset.

·Documented experience working as an Instructor in a post-secondary or industrial setting within a team environment is an asset.

Location Annacis Island, British Columbia
Compensation/Pay Rate $67,034 to $99,572 per annum.
