The City of Vancouver has scheduled rehabilitation of the Burrard Bridge and safety improvements to the intersection with Pacific Street to start in March or April 2016, for completion in 14 to 20 months.

The Burrard Bridge, Burrard Street, and Pacific Street are part of the City’s designated truck route network and major goods movement routes to and from the downtown area.

In addition to work on the bridge, the project includes the following improvements for the Burrard-Pacific intersection, to reduce collisions and conflicts:

  • Replace slip lanes with dedicated turn lanes

  • Create protected signal phases for different road users and turn movements

  • Increase separation between people walking, cycling, and driving

Construction will take place Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, and on occasional weekends. There will be one travel lane open in each direction on Burrard Street during the project. Some full road closures will be needed on weekends to allow for major roadwork and final paving.

Additional information regarding the Burrard Bridge and Pacific Street Intersection Upgrade is available on the project website here.
