BCTA member Diamond Delivery is challenging fellow motor carrier members to help them raise $56,000 to purchase a simulation baby to train doctors at Surrey Memorial Hospital in emergency natal care – Diamond has raised $34,000 to date and will MATCH any donations you make (until donations total $11,000) to reach their goal during Surrey Memorial’s 100 Days to Give campaign.

Diamond Delivery has been holding fundraisers to contribute to the campaign, including a 56-kilometre relay at Bear Creek Park in Surrey on April 16 during which they hoped to raise $1 a metre. They’re determined to reach their total and would like to go further with your support.

Companies can make a donation online at 100days.smhfoundation.com. To make sure that Diamond Delivery receives information about your donation, please do the following:

Donations of $20 or more will automatically receive a tax receipt – and no donation is too small!

The Surrey Memorial Hospital 100 Days to Give campaign, which runs to June 1, 2011, will help to fund a new integrated health care centre for the Fraser Valley, the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. Funds raised will go to purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, including Diamond’s chosen contribution, the “Simbaby,” a realistic infant simulation doll that will help medical staff learn and practice life-saving techniques. Jim Pattison, well-known BC philanthropist and businessman, is also matching donations up to a total of $5 million.

Any amount you donate will give twice over. If your company is based in Surrey or neighbouring communities, your employees and families especially may well benefit from this new health centre and the expertise it will provide. Please consider contributing to this campaign.
