Motor Carrier Membership

Your trucks and buses represent more than a significant financial investment — they are the lifeblood of your business. BCTA membership protects that investment in many ways.

• Government Affairs: BCTA represents you by maintaining contact with federal, provincial and municipal politicians and senior officials. BCTA actively supports laws and programs that advance the interests of truck and bus owners and opposes those that don't. For example, BCTA deals with policies regarding taxation, vehicle weights and dimensions, infrastructure development and financing, ICBC insurance, Workers' Compensation Board, labour and the environment. BCTA also has a strong presence on the national scene through the Canadian Trucking Alliance, which is based in Ottawa.
  
  
• Media Relations: Because trucks and buses operate on B.C.'s public roads on a daily basis, the general public and the media often formulate opinions about trucks and buses that can lead to punitive tax, regulatory burdens and enforcement. BCTA sets the record straight and promotes the industry's view by responding to inquiries, articles and editorials in newspapers and the electronic media.
  
  
• Industry Information: BCTA helps to keep members informed through its bi-weekly newsletter, the BCTA Bulletin, special news bulletins, our membership roster and the Commercial Transport Procedures Manual.
  
  
• Industry Promotion: All BCTA members have access to a portable display booth with a "Get Your Career On the Road" theme. The free members are only responsible for shipping costs - careers display booth is a useful tool for career fairs, trade shows and other events.

• Group Benefits Plan

  BCTA members can develop their own group benefits plan by choosing from a full line of insurance products, including group life insurance, extended health care, dental care, short-term and long-term disability. Annual Conference

Truxpo 2008

BCTA organises and hosts a biennial truck, trailer and equipment exposition which showcases new technology in the trucking industry. The next Truxpo will take place in Fall 2008.

Membership Investment in BCTA is a business investment that pays dividends many times over through reduced costs and enhanced opportunities. Membership fees are based on the number of vehicles operated.

Annual Dues

Secondary Members (call BCTA for qualification details) are assessed a flat fee of $100 per year.U.S.-based carriers with home offices in the U.S. and no terminals in B.C. are assessed a flat fee of $550 per year.Associate Members (non-carriers) are assessed a flat fee of $325 per year (less than 3 branches) or $400 per year (more than 3 branches).
